World Sight Day 19th Oct 2011



On 19th October 2011, KPJ Healthcare Berhad’s eye centre Pusat Pakar Mata Centre for Sight, Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur Bukit Kiara and CIMB Foundation are joining hands to help the needy this World Sight Day, by providing free cataract operations for 25 needy elderly patients.

The CSR launch was held at the eye centre, which is located in SS23, Taman SEA, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, and was attended by some 50 people, including patients who will be receiving the treatment over the next one month.


The launch was officiated by YB Tony Pua, Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya Utara. He was accompany by KPJ Healthcare Berhad’s Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer, En Amiruddin Abdul Satar, who is also the Chairman of Pusat Pakar Mata Centre for Sight.


Pusat Pakar Mata Centre for Sight’s Medical Director, Dr. Choong Yean Yaw, also spoke about his passion for ophthalmology and shared his own as well as the centre’s experience in providing charity services for the needy as an extension of its services to the community during his sharing session.


As part of the launch, these elderly patients – who will be undergoing the cataract operations in October and November – were also treated to a sumptuous lunch and given a goodie bag each.
